Figurative – Two Lovers, Bedroom Art, Original Painting

Creating figurative art can be quite interesting. When I started this piece I had a crush on a guy I eventually ended up dating. I realized halfway through the painting that I had painted him into my picture. When we were no longer dating, this piece was a bit hard to complete. And so I reworked it a bit so that it wouldn’t be so similar to real life.
In art class we are always told to “paint what we see.”  the challenge is, what we “see” is often not what our eyes are seeing, but what we know on some level internally.
This original painting is an acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas
