Voted Reader’s Choice Best Visual Artist in OC Weekly’s Best of OC 2009

Michelle Geromel was  chosen by Sony Stores to be part of their The Talented project. She was a featured RAW Artist. She was also selected as An Artist To Watch by SkinnyArtist.com. And was voted by the reader’s of the OC Weekly as their pick for Best Visual Artist in the Best of OC 2009. She is also the author of the internationally published Artist Organized series.

Michelle has been an artist her entire life.  Her earlier works were in colored pencil and pastel.  It wasn’t until after she took a detour into corporate life, and was looking to reconnect with her creativity, that she began to paint.  In time this led to Michelle leaving corporate America and becoming a full-time artist.

Michelle is known for her sexy figurative paintings. She has gained recognition for her strong, empowering renderings which highlight the beauty of the female and male body though use of accentuated lighting and color values.

Her work has been seen nationally in art shows and publications. From California to NYC. And her paintings hang in various collections throughout the United States and Africa.

When she’s not painting in her home studio, Michelle is most likely teaching in Laguna or enjoying the company of other Southern California artists.

Art for Michelle has always been about enhancing the environment around her.  It’s why she works with LOCA to bring art to places and people who would normally not get that experience.

Because any impact starts at home, for many years Michelle has made environment-friendly choices in her home studio.  Years ago she switched to less toxic substances to creat her art – such as acrylic paints instead of oil paints, and vegtable based soap instead of harsher chemical-based solvents. She also uses Fabriano Artistico watercolor paper, which is made from chlorine-free naturally combed cotton, and is not bleached, chemically brightened or held together with gelatin, like most other watercolor paper.
